Clean Up Time!

That’s right…spring and cleaning just go together!
Look closely and you will discover many levels of ‘collectibles’ you no longer need in your life.

Often, we limit spring-cleaning to closets and getting rid of the vast amounts of things we store up which do not serve us. This is still good – besides, what we should let go of could be of greater benefit to someone else.

Then, there is inner debris that we can release as well. That’s not normally what comes to mind; however, nature’s time of renewal offers us an opportunity to pull out some of our internal clutter too – thoughts, ideas, attitudes, hard and hardened feelings – you know what I mean.

Do not hang on any longer…clutter wherever you may find it looks, smells and feels toxic. May is here and then we will be in summer before you know it. What a sense of accomplishment to mimic spring and begin anew in your own home, your own life. I don’t know what your plans are for this weekend, but if you can tackle one or two things, get it done, do it now!

Starting today…not tomorrow,

To speak or not to speak…

It is often a battle: do I say it, do I keep it to myself, do I say it, do I keep it to myself?
Where is the balance between sharing what you believe to be true and holding it for fear of offending another?

Author Michael Brown claims that waking others up just because we can see they are asleep is foolish, an act of interference and arrogant. Ouch! He says sleep is not a mistake; it has a purpose. “A seed sleeps until it sprouts. It sprouts not only because it is ready for life but because life all around it is also ready to intimately support its awakening.” He shares that as ‘teachers’ impart their lessons when we are ready; they also quickly step away so that we can make our own choices alone.

A beautiful dogwood tree in my garden suggests to me: although one of my flower clusters ‘looks’ like it is on the wrong part of my trunk, it actually is where it is supposed to be.

What is ours to share, ours to say, or ours to silently hold and keep? Where do you draw that line or hold that balance? I would like to know.

We’re all juggling…

Pamela

Today we filled your kitchen with laughter and your garden with love. I took a picture of the mural above your stove to share a tiny sampling of the vibrant colors and creative ideas you brought to life.

We planted pansies and marigolds outside because it was a way to fill the gap and bring your lonely garden back to life. We were there as you had been many seasons before; preparing your flowerpots for the bursting joy that follows spring around. We think the garden fairies approved – what a magical place to play.

We felt you watching us, and did our very best…a year is a very long time…isn’t it?
I think most of us are more comfortable with the tears we shed alone. We hold our grief in silence, just behind our open eyes and hurting hearts. We choose to take it home.

Although no one asked, I was wondering, do flowers sing over there?

Love,
Mozella

How to handle “stuff”

Literally and metaphorically, dog poop can be quite a problem — so much so, that cities have come up with their own ordinances on just how to ‘handle’ it.

We all have to deal with ‘dog poop’ in our lives, at one time or another, whether you have a dog or not!

Do we pick it up/bag it and neatly throw it away in the nearest royal dog poop bin? Or, do we take it home with us? What are your rules and regulations for it? Do you step over it and keep going…or do you play in it for a little while….ugh!

Perhaps if we create our own disposal bins…and a few systems to keep stuff in check… we could all keep our thoughts relatively clear?!!

So, when the dog bites, when the bees sting, when you’re feeling sad….simply remember your favorite things and then you won’t feel sooooooo bad!!!!

Seriously, though…we could all use some tools…and a little humor to manage the stuff we simply must work our way through!

Make it a walk in the park,

Hiding

Hiding

Poet and philosopher Mark Nepo introduced me to a wonderful poem last weekend – “Breaking Surface”. Through it, I realized again, how long I had been hiding, primarily from others.

Why do we not wish to sing whom we really are, choosing to mumble instead? What keeps us in that space Marianne Williamson calls ‘playing small’? At what point do we invite ourselves to wake up, stand up and claim: “yes, I am that” or “yes, this is what matters to me”.

A part of Mark’s poem states:

Let nothing dissuade you

from seeing what you see

or feeling the winds that make you

want to dance alone

or go where no one

has yet to go.

You are the only explorer.

Your heart, the unreadable compass.

Your soul, the shore of a promise

too great to be ignored.

No matter how pretty, unusual, convenient or intriguing your mask may be, perhaps it is time to put it down and step out into the waiting sunshine!

Warmly,

Mozella
